The Nest Boycotts Wix in Solidarity with Palestine

Why We’re Moving to Squarespace

By Anchal Bibra | April 29, 2024

Five months of the Israeli war on Gaza have passed and here at The Nest we’ve grappled with how to best use our platform and power to support Palestinian freedom and advocate for a cease fire. We are a people of color-led creative agency whose values are rooted in collective liberation. Our value of connection centers fostering generous, reciprocal, and accountable relationships to the Earth and each other. So we asked ourselves, what could we do to stand in solidarity with the BDS movement ? How could we hold Israel accountable? The answer came in the form of a grassroots boycott targeting web building platform Wix.

Headquartered in Tel Aviv, Wix is a publicly-traded Israeli company worth hundreds of millions of dollars. Wix relies on free access to the internet and startup capital – access which is denied Palestinians living under Israeli occupation. Aaaand it just so happens that Wix is also the platform we used to lovingly design and launch our website design just last fall.

Although our website build and launch was a labor of love that required a lot of effort and care, we felt it was crucial to our values for us to migrate from Wix to a new platform and stand in solidarity with the economic boycott. We’re committing time and effort (resources that are precious for an early stage startup!) to redesign our website on Squarespace. Stay tuned for our new(er) launch! Take action against these companies in solidarity with the BDS movement and Palestinians. Additional steps we can all take is blocking any Wix sponsored ads that you come across.

If we’ve designed a website for you in the past, we’re offering a 10% discount if you’d like to migrate your website from Wix to Squarespace too. If we haven’t collaborated yet but would still like to, hit us up at hello@thenestcreatives.com or our contact form! We’d love to chat with you about your vision.
